I’m pleased to introduce you to The River Reporter, a weekly newsletter written, edited, and produced by the Marist College students enrolled in my COM 340-Journalism 2 course this semester. The River Reporter’s goal is to keep you updated and informed about the upcoming presidential election and the issues involved. Each article is designed to bring important campaign issues and facts directly to you, breaking down complex issues and showing how the issues discussed in our media impact you, as a student.
This is a laboratory experience for the students in my course, as they learn about how to write for an audience and how to make news stories relevant for the reader.
We welcome feedback, constructive criticism, and story ideas. We encourage you to think about the issues and ideas raised in the stories and to use the information to form your own opinions about the candidates.
If you would like to send feedback, please email me at lyn.lepre@marist.edu; and I will pass along your comments to the staff.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you will enjoy the newsletter.
PDF copies of each issue are linked both to the right and above, under “Issues.”
